Those dealing with specific medical issues or severe toxicity are strongly encouraged to cleanse with support and guidance. Although juicing is safe for everyone, the difficulty level before cleansing varies depending on the person and lifestyle. Discomfort resulting in a negative experience is more likely when the mind and/or body are not robust to begin with. Examples of those who should seek the support of our Cleanse Coach are those who drink alcohol in large amounts, smoke, eat animal flesh and dairy every day, use large amounts of pharmaceutical drugs, have severe excess body weight, battle depression, or other underlying conditions.
Practice up to 1 week before beginning your cleanse. Begin by cutting out meat a week before your cleanse. If you eat primarily red meat, switch to poultry and fish. Try to eat vegetarian for two days before your cleanse. Drastically reduce your dairy intake. 24 hours before your cleanse, reduce to almost none. If you consume a lot of white or processed sugars, cut back the week before. Soda can be pretty addicting. Try switching to sparkling water or iced tea. Begin 72 hours before your cleanse. If you have a caffeine addiction that is causing headaches, drink an ounce or two of black coffee to soothe the craving, and decrease each day as you get closer to the cleanse. Incorporate green tea as needed for caffeine reducing intake daily. Set yourself up for success, knowing that this may be difficult. Talk with anyone you share your home with, and make sure you have their support. Find a buddy or family member to cleanse with.

Now, how do I begin eating again? If you feel strong upon completion and want to continue the cleansing process, you may continue with an 80-100% raw vegan diet. This means fresh fruits and vegetables in the form of juices, smoothies, salads, soups, etc. This is especially great for those who were vegetarians before beginning the cleanse. Be sure to decide how long you would like to continue this stage of the cleanse. During this time the cleansing process will slow down a bit while your body continues to rid itself of toxins and your energy continues to increase.
If you are through with the cleansing stuff for now, please don't go out and eat a cheeseburger! The key to concluding a juice fast is avoiding the common dietary choices that made cleansing necessary in the first place.
Dairy, animal products, excess caffeine and alcohol, sugar, processed grains, and foods are greatly discouraged. It is never recommended for anyone to jump in and out of cleansing and eating poorly, as this can cause long-term health issues.
